Searching For a Travel Destination

If you love to travel, but don’t relish planning the trip ahead of time, all you need is a few pointers to get started, and you’ll be as savvy as a travel agent in no time. In fact, planning the trip is half the fun of actually taking the trip, as long as you know where to look and what to plan in advance.

First of all, decide where it is you would like to travel. There are many choices, but don’t be hasty in picking one, this will take some careful consideration. Do you like to sun bathe on the beach? Do you like all-inclusive vacations? Would you like to go on a cruise, or is a land vacation more your thing? What types of activities interest you, such as shopping, fine dining or attractions? These are all things to keep in mind when searching for a travel destination.

Once you have decided what it is you like to do, then you can narrow it down as far as a destination choice. If you pick a popular destination, such as Las Vegas or Disney World, planning your vacation will be a breeze. Or perhaps you have a preference of scenic places, such as mountains, oceans, deserts or big city life. Try and narrow your destination down to three choices, and you’re almost there.

The next step is to start exploring on the internet. Do some searches on your destination, and take your time looking at all the hotels and attractions that are offered. Does the life of luxury appeal to you, or are you a budget traveler, looking for a travel bargain? The great thing about planning travel on the internet, is most travel sites have travel reviews, where you can get first hand knowledge about your vacation destination.

Choose a hotel that is close to the areas of attractions that interest you. Find out before hand if you will need to rent a car, or if taking a cab, bus or subway will get you where you want to go. Of course, if you are driving to your destination, then you don’t need to worry about these things.

After you choose your hotel, find out what restaurants are in the area. It’s a good idea to make your dining plans ahead of time, in case reservations are needed. If you are on a budget, then it would be a good idea to choose a hotel with either a full kitchen or at least a refrigerator, so you can eat a few meals in your room.

You may choose to go on your adventure vacation or with your partner or even with your family, there is an exciting range of options, no matter which form of adventure travel you are looking to venture out on!

Family Adventure Travel

It sure is hard to please every member of the family when it comes to going on a vacation, and when it’s an adventure travel destination, then you’re probably indulging in some serious wishful thinking if you believe that you can satisfy every member of your family!

One such exciting adventure vacation, which you can’t go wrong with, is exploring a forest. If you belong to a family with an adventurous streak, then, more often than not, you will find that everyone loves the idea of going on a forest trip. But do be careful about choosing the right forest.

You need to take into account not only the exotic species of flora and fauna in the forest, but also the danger factor. Always choose forests which are less dangerous. Remember, Safety first! Try the New Forest, in southern England and be reminded of Robin Hood while you’re at it! You can try a variety of other places like ski slopes, beaches, deserts, mountains and even unknown, secluded adventure spots. Nothing like exploring a new place with the family!

Luxury Adventure Travel

This form of adventure holiday is for those of you who love all the luxuries of life, along with a healthy dose of adventure. Take the Desert Safari in Dubai for example. This experience combines both adventure and luxury perfectly. Try the evening desert safari which starts in the afternoon and takes you along the desert sands in order to quench your thirst for adventure. This is one of those luxury adventure travel destinations which you just cannot avoid.

Take pictures of the breath taking sunset or decorate yourselves with pretty henna art, sample some of the best cuisine in the world and enjoy unlimited soft drinks and mineral water or even access to the bar. Let’s not forget belly dancing, one of the best known and most exotic dance forms in the world.

Picking Your Travel Destination

There are several things that might help you pick your first destination. What interests you? What fuels your curiosity?

Do you have a hobby that you could incorporate into your trip? Do you have a passion that drives your everyday life that has a history, or origins in some foreign destination?

Have you always been fascinated with the Roman Empire? Consider traveling to Italy and visiting the Roman Forum, and the most well-preserved Roman arena in Verona.

Have you always loved French wine and cuisine? Plan a trip to Paris, and the Bordeaux region of France.

Did you major in architecture in college? Plan a trip to Spain, and see Gaudi’s Cathedral Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

Or do you want to see the village your grandparents came from in Poland?

You get the point. Pick a destination that you’re going to be excited about, not just one that you feel is a place that you “should go”. It will add a whole new dimension to your journey!

Do you have friends or relatives that have traveled abroad? They are great resources that can help you decide. After all, they know YOU, and what you would enjoy, and find interesting. Facebook, and other social media websites are terrific for this! Post on your status update “What is the best travel destination you’ve been to?” and I’m sure you’ll get several replies!

Right here, I’m going to give you your first invaluable piece of travel advice: Be conservative when picking how much you want to do, and the number of destinations you want to include in your trip. You may never return to this place, so you need to get it done right the first time!

How to Pick a Vacation Travel

Travel destinations are not one-size-fits-all. Some see travel as a chance to relax at a sunny beach resort for a week. Others view a trip as an opportunity to visit a new city for museums, shopping and sightseeing. Some folks see travel as an occasion to join family and friends in a remote setting, such as an outdoor cabin destination. Those looking for romance may find a cruise or romantic weekend getaway fits their lifestyle.

Make a rough estimate for the vacation budget. Select a price range for food, travel and lodging expenses as a first step. This helps narrow your choices to affordable destinations. Include spending money to have fun during your stay. Look up seasonal travel deals offered by many online travel services. Traveling during peak times means large crowds and a less individualized experience. Consider planning your destination during off-peak months for deepest discounts on travel to popular sun and sand destinations like the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and Barbados in the Caribbean.

Package deals offer discounts on airfare, hotel and transportation for an essential European holiday. Fine dine in Paris, France and shop for luxury in Milan, Italy with a package that allows you plenty of spending money to visit several destinations. Consider sightseeing the Fjords in Norway and stopping for a bier in Germany by purchasing a Eurail Pass. The European train system connects many major cities in Europe. Purchase a rail pass to ride anywhere, get off at any stop and journey on as many trains as you want without checking in or buying tickets for each trip. The popular Eurail Select Pass between the Mediterranean countries of Italy and Greece includes a ferry ride.

Turnaround and go south for a different approach to your international getaway. When the cold weather is too much to bear in the northern hemisphere, consider visiting locations in the milder climate of the southern hemisphere. Visit destinations in South America, Southern Africa or Australia for summer in December, January and February. Each destination has a distinct culture and authentic rugged qualities, but they all share the left to right sun trajectory that makes shadows cast in an anticlockwise pattern, like the flow of water. View brighter stars and clearer skies in Chile, Brazil and New Zealand as you head closer to the galactic center of the South Pole.
